Halifax Oyster Festival: 25th Nov 2022

The Halifax oyster festival is back again for 2022 after a few pandemic years break. This is one of the largest oyster festivals in Canada. The Halifax oyster festival was initially scheduled to hold in September, but due to Hurricane Fiona, the festival was postponed. But now the celebration is back again. The festival will take place in the picturesque location of Halifax waterfront, the seaport’s weatherproof Pavillon 22 venue!

The Halifax oyster festival will celebrate its 6th year in 2022. Starting in 2014, this festival runs independently with the team that publishes Halifax’s local news source. Since 2014 the Halifax oyster festival has proven to be the best oyster and food festival in the city.

Unlike other food festivals in the city, the Halifax oyster festival gives you a unique chance to meet the farmers and their families involved in the oyster industry and learn from them about the waters and the history of the local oysters. The festival has 2500 attendance. With 20+induvidual oyster farmers, Nova Scotian wine, beer, spirit, cider, seafood, and other food items, as well as the Nova Scotia Shucking Championship, we can guarantee you a grand oyster festival.

Food and Drink Options

With oysters, other food items and beverages are available to purchase on-site. We try our best to reduce the price of each set, including chowder, lobster rolls, and sausages, below 12$. With that, Nova Scitoca wine, locally brewed beer, RIDs, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages in various tastes will be available to purchase in the festival location.

Food and Drink Pre-Paid Card

This year’s organizing committee has focused on reducing paper tickets to be more eco-friendly. So, visitors have to use scannable food and drink cards instead of paper tickets this year. For each food item and beverage you buy, the card will be loaded with dollars at one of the several Kiosks at the festival. When you enter the festival ground, you will be given a $0 card, and you have to load them with cash, credit, or debit at Kiosks on the festival grounds. The food and drink cards that you were loaded with money can be used to scan at festival bars and food stations to purchase food and drinks.

We recommend you pre-purchasing festival cards ahead of time to mitigate lineups. If you want to know the foods available and wait until the food and drink menu is published to make a card, we suggest you make a separate purchase for a food and drink card closer to the festival dates. The purchased food and drink cards will be a handout to you at the festival gates.

Please keep your festival card safe at the festival ground because lost or stolen festival cards cannot be replaced.

Your personal information won’t be attached to the card, just like gift cards.
