The Hangout Oyster Cook-Off, Craft Spirits & Beer Weekend of the Gulf Shores is an opportunity to manifest the talents and skills of the seasoned chefs from the Southeast for an unforgettable afternoon of oysters while feeling the breeze and the view of the beach of the picturesque Gulf Shores, AL.
Enjoy the taste of the carefully cooked oyster dishes from a range of restaurants that will be serving Rockefeller, Gulf Coast Cajun, and Raw Oysters. You will also have the chance to polish up your culinary skills with fun and detailed cooking demonstrations held throughout the day Saturday. There will be many varieties of crafted beers, crafted cocktails, and Champagne to sip while slurping the oysters.

The tickets include specialty beers from all of the craft brewers participating at the event, live music, and the most delicious Brew B’que by the best chefs who will be there to show off their culinary skills.
5. Events
The signature event at the Gulf Shores Oyster festival is the Oyster Cook-Off. In this event, you will be able to sample dishes made of oysters by the best chefs and restaurants from around the country. Tasting tickets are available for purchase use in exchange for oysters during the Oyster Cook-Off.
In the Gulf Shores Oyster Festival of 2019, the pre-sale tasting ticket booklets were available for $30 for 15 tickets. Check the official website https://www.hangoutcookoff.com for updates.
Remember that tasting tickets do not include admission and also the tasting tickets cannot be used to purchase beers and other beverages or for purchases at The Hangout Restaurant. Unused tickets will have no value or use after the festival
Oyster shucking contest is another event at Gulf Shores Oyster Festival that you should not miss. As we all know, oyster shucking is an art pleasing to watch. Admission is $10, children 12 and under are free. For this event also the tasting tickets are not included with the admission ticket.
There will be cooking demonstrations and workshops to learn from well-recognized chefs sharing their skills and expertise over the weekend. The Southeast’s most talented chefs will contest in three categories for the best oyster dishes, and you will have the fortune to taste them all which is included with Cook-Off admission.

Driving to the Hangout Oyster Cook-off is convenient from cities across the southeast and mid-west. Atlanta, Chattanooga, Memphis, Athens, Asheville, Tampa Bay, Gainesville, Nashville, and Houston is just a short drive away. For the residents of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Montgomery, or Jackson, it will take only a few hours to reach the Gulf Shores,
Once you get the I-65, I-10, or Highway 98, the Gulf Shores Parkway and Beach Express make it a quick and easy cruise straight down to the beach and the Hangout Oyster Cook-off.
Many of the main airlines fly into the closest Mobile and Pensacola airports. Both airports are only about an hour’s drive from the Hangout Oyster Cook-off, once you land, rent a car and you will be there for fun in no time.
