Arcata Bay Oyster Festival Anniversary
Arcata’s Oyster Festival is the prized pearl of summer festivals, bringing thousands of friends and families to the Arcata Plaza to enjoy our finest local oysters and food, craft brews, wine, music, theater, art, and dance in a safe and healthy environment.
Please join Arcata Main Street, along with dozens of community partners, chefs, local businesses, and non-profits to celebrate this quarter century milestone!
We’ll have your favorite Oyster Fest traditions like the Best Oyster, the Oyster Calling Contest, the Shuck & Swallow Contest, a Raffle, the decorated storefront Window Contest, a kids’ area, Aqua Alley, the Farmer’s Market, Arcata Playhouse entertainment, and much more, plus an entire month of activities leading up to Oyster Fest that will expand your understanding and appreciation of our local Humboldt Bay aquaculture industry, economy, and culture.
New features 2015 (so far)
- A Negotiable Utopia: The Humboldt Bay Project – a multimedia art show by Cynthia Hooper will be on display during May and June in the Plaza View Room. Opening night will include a presentation and roundtable discussion featuring Humboldt Bay’s aquaculture and environmental movers and shuckers, plus other guests TBA.
- All new and expanded oyster fest merchandise available before, during, and after the festival – online and in town.
- Local wine and oyster pairing event the week before Oyster Fest.
- Waste reduction: Be prepared to work with us with the goal of less garbage in the landfill.
- Faster food lines
The Oyster Festival is Arcata Main Street’s only fundraiser of the year. AMS is a non-profit organization. All of the proceeds from this festival are reinvested back into the community. We thank you for supporting this event and AMS’s mission to enhance and promote Arcata’s identity, economy and cultural spirit.
