Twenty five years ago, Arcata Main Street, a devoted group of local business owners, came together with friends in the community to create an Arcata event where local oysters, fine wine, handcrafted beer, and music could have their day in the sun, with fun, food and frolic. The founders of Oyster Fest could never have imagined how successful this tradition would become. Thousands of locals and out-of-town bivalve lovers kick off their summer plans with a trek to the Historic Arcata Plaza for Father’s Day weekend. This is a quintessential Arcata experience, the largest one-day event in Humboldt County, and a huge boost to our local economy.

The goal of the 25th Arcata Bay Oyster Festival is to spotlight local businesses, aquaculture, craft breweries, wineries, food and music. All proceeds from the festival fund Arcata Main Street projects that build community and strengthen our identity, economy and cultural spirit – not just in Arcata, but throughout Humboldt County. A few of our most notable accomplishments include:

  • Halloween Trick-or-Treating around the Plaza
