Oyster Festival Matakana

Oyster Festival Matakana 2021 – New Zealand

The flavor of the oyster changes with the water it grows in. But does it even matter as all the oysters taste equally delicious? So wherever you go, the oysters will be there for you as a universal mouthwatering food. Oyster Festival Matakana is a divine opportunity to enjoy the shucking season of the region with Mahurangi’s freshest home-grown oysters.

Oyster Festival Matakana will be full of oyster dishes, local wines, craft beers, cider, and champagne to support your merry-making. There is also an oyster shucking competition running throughout the day along with a ‘Buddy Bar’ and food demonstrations. You should not miss the wine pairing from the Matakana Winegrowers Association, Shucking Classes, and local panel discussions, and more as it is one of the most joyful elements in this festival.

If you have a partner or family who is not a fan of the oysters, there will be delicacies to treat their taste buds too. You can buy and taste non-seafood items like Rosé Crafted Cakes to Ringawera Bakery, Source Kitchen, and Whitebait Fritters from Manaki Whitebait. It is a definite that food will double your fun. The boutique tepee-style village, brought in by TopKata, will have over forty seasoned producers of food, wine, beer and will be abundant in oysters. Oyster Festival Matakana has a majority of stallholders from its locality assuring that you are delivered a genuine Matakana food story.

The Oyster Festival Matakana is traditionally scheduled for the second week of the school holidays. So it will be a fun getaway or day out if you have kids in your family. The event has a long list of games for the kids to take part from silent disco, kids yoga, flax weaving flapjack making, and old school games which will keep them occupied throughout the day. The ‘Mud Kitchens’ at Oyster Festival Matakana by Made for Mischief will be a creative play-space opportunity for your kids.
